Differential geometry Surfaces in Euclidean space Concept
Shape operator
Summary
The shape operator of a surface in at a point is a linear map of the tangent plane to itself. It tells how the unit normal turns as one moves on the surface. It is minus the differential of the Gauss map, and it is also called the Weingarten map. Its eigenvalues are the principal curvatures, its determinant is the Gaussian curvature, and half its trace is the mean curvature.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
