Mechanics of particles and systems Statics Concept
Statics
Summary
Statics is the branch of mechanics that studies bodies and structures at rest under the action of forces. Its basic equations are the conditions of mechanical equilibrium: the forces and the torques on each body sum to zero. It is used to find the loads in beams, trusses, cables and machine parts that do not move. Variational tools such as the principle of virtual work give the same equilibrium conditions for constrained systems.
