Supergravity
Summary
Supergravity is a field theory that combines general relativity with local supersymmetry. Local means that the supersymmetry transformation may vary from point to point. Local supersymmetry forces the presence of gravity, and the graviton is paired with a spin- partner called the gravitino. The first supergravity theory in four dimensions was found in 1976 by Freedman, van Nieuwenhuizen and Ferrara, and independently by Deser and Zumino. Supergravity theories are the low-energy limits of superstring theories and of M-theory.
