Taft algebra
Builds on Primitive root of unity
Example
Let and let be a field that contains a primitive -th root of unity . The Taft algebra is the -algebra generated by and with the relations It has the -basis with , so its dimension is . It is a Hopf algebra with The check that respects the relations: . For , both sides equal after using . For , put and ; then , so the -binomial formula with gives , and , . The antipode check on : , and .
Remarks
is not commutative, since . It is not cocommutative, since the flip of is . The antipode satisfies , so ; this shows that the antipode of a finite-dimensional Hopf algebra need not be an involution. For and (with ) it is Sweedler's -dimensional Hopf algebra, the smallest Hopf algebra that is neither commutative nor cocommutative.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
