Total order

Definition

Let AA be a set. A total order on AA is a partial order ≤\le on AA such that, for all a,b∈Aa, b \in A, a≤ba \le b or b≤ab \le a.

Remarks

Other names are linear order and simple order. The usual orders on N\mathbb{N}, Z\mathbb{Z}, Q\mathbb{Q} and R\mathbb{R} are total orders. The order ⊆\subseteq on the power set of {1,2}\{1, 2\} is not total.

Explanations

L1 human

In a total order, all elements stand on one line. For any two of them, one comes before the other, or they are equal.

What this node needs for W2
  • edge instance_of in: one example (0 of 1)
  • edge not_instance_of in: one non-example that fails one clause (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a node is. They do not measure its truth.

What depends on this

11 nodes use this node, directly or through other nodes.
