Verma module

Summary

A Verma module is the largest module of a complex semisimple Lie algebra generated by a vector of a given highest weight. It is built from the universal enveloping algebra by induction from a Borel subalgebra. Every irreducible highest weight module, in particular every finite-dimensional irreducible module, is a quotient of a Verma module. Verma modules are the standard objects of category O.
