Wreath product

Summary

The wreath product A≀ΩGA \wr_\Omega G builds a new group from a group AA and a group GG that acts on a set Ω\Omega. It is the semidirect product of the group of all functions Ω→A\Omega \to A with GG, where GG moves the functions by moving the points of Ω\Omega. Wreath products describe the symmetries of objects made of several copies of a smaller object. Each group extension EE of a group BB by a group AA embeds in the unrestricted regular wreath product A≀BA \wr B.
