XY model
Builds on GraphBoltzmann distribution
Example
Let be a finite graph, let be a coupling constant and let be the inverse temperature. A configuration assigns to each vertex an angle , that is, a unit vector in . Its energy is The XY model on is the probability measure on with density with respect to the product of the uniform measures. Here is the normalizing constant. This is a Boltzmann distribution on a continuous spin space, so the XY model is a lattice model when is a box of .
Remarks
The energy is unchanged when every angle is shifted by the same , so the model has a continuous symmetry. It is the case of the n-vector model. On the Mermin–Wagner theorem rules out spontaneous magnetization at every positive temperature. Yet the model still has a change of behaviour of its correlations, the Berezinskii–Kosterlitz–Thouless transition. On with it has long-range order at low temperature.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
