Bar resolution

Summary

The bar resolution of a group GG is an explicit free resolution of the trivial module ℤ\Z over the group ring ℤ[G]\Z[G]. Its basis elements in degree nn are the symbols [g1∣⋯∣gn][g_1 | \cdots | g_n], one for each list of nn elements of GG. It turns group cohomology into a concrete computation with functions of nn group elements, which gives the classical cocycle descriptions of H1H^1 and H2H^2. The same construction exists for augmented algebras, where it computes Hochschild homology and Tor.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)
