Chiral Potts model
Builds on Potts model
Example
Let be an integer, and let be a finite piece of the square lattice whose edges are oriented to the right and upward. A configuration is a map . Let be Boltzmann weights for horizontal and vertical edges. The chiral Potts model is the probability measure on configurations with weight proportional to The products run over oriented edges , and in general . The weights are thus invariant under the cyclic shift but not under ; this lack of mirror symmetry is the chirality.
Remarks
If and takes one value at and another for all , the model is the -state Potts model. For there is no room for chirality, since in , and the model is the Ising model. In the late 1980s an integrable family of chiral Potts models was found whose weights satisfy the star–triangle relation. Unlike earlier solvable models, its weights are parametrized by points of an algebraic curve of genus greater than one when , not by elliptic or trigonometric functions.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
