Complex K-theory KU

Summary

Complex K-theory assigns to a compact space XX the group K0(X)K^0(X) built from complex vector bundles over XX. It also assigns groups K−n(X)K^{-n}(X) obtained from suspensions. These groups form a generalized cohomology theory, denoted KUKU, and by Bott periodicity they repeat with period 22. It is the first and most used example of topological K-theory. It has applications to index theory and to the Hopf invariant one problem.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
