Conformal map
Definition
Let be an open subset of the complex plane, identified with , and let . Let be differentiable at as a map from an open subset of to , with Jacobian matrix at . The map is conformal at if for a real number and a rotation matrix . A rotation matrix is an orthogonal matrix with determinant . The map is conformal on if it is conformal at each point of .
Remarks
Equivalently, is conformal at when its real derivative at is the map for a complex number . A map that is conformal at preserves the angles between curves through , and their orientation. Some authors also allow orientation-reversing maps, such as , whose Jacobian is a positive number times an orthogonal matrix. Other authors use "conformal map" for an injective holomorphic map on an open set.
Explanations

A conformal map can stretch and turn a small figure, but it does not distort its shape. If two curves cross at an angle of degrees, then their images cross at the same angle, in the same direction. For example, and are conformal at each point.
What this node needs for W2
- edge instance_of in: one example (0 of 1)
- edge not_instance_of in: one non-example that fails one clause (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a node is. They do not measure its truth.
