Coroot

Summary

The coroot of a root α\alpha is the vector α∨=2α/(α,α)\alpha^\vee = 2\alpha/(\alpha, \alpha), which rescales α\alpha so that the reflection in the hyperplane orthogonal to α\alpha reads x↦x−(x,α∨)αx \mapsto x - (x, \alpha^\vee)\alpha. The coroots of a root system form again a root system, the dual root system. In a semisimple Lie algebra, the coroot of α\alpha is an element hαh_\alpha of the Cartan subalgebra. It lies in the copy of 𝔰𝔩2\mathfrak{sl}_2 attached to α\alpha, and α(hα)=2\alpha(h_\alpha) = 2.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
