Depth
Summary
The depth of a module along an ideal is the common length of the maximal regular sequences on inside . For a Noetherian local ring it is bounded by the Krull dimension, and the rings where equality holds are the Cohen–Macaulay rings. Depth can be computed with the Ext functor, with Koszul complexes or with local cohomology.
