Haar measure on the circle
Builds on Circle groupNormalized Haar measure on a compact groupLebesgue measure
Example
Let be the circle group with complex multiplication. Let , , which is a bijection. For a Borel set put where is Lebesgue measure. In integral form, .
Check that is a Haar measure. It is a finite Borel measure on a compact metric space, hence a Radon measure, and , so it is nonzero. For , multiplication by corresponds to on . This map cuts into two intervals and translates each of them, so it preserves Lebesgue measure. Hence for every and every Borel set .
Since , it is the normalized Haar measure of . Every other Haar measure of is for some , for instance arc length . An arc of angle with has measure .

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
