Incompressible flow
Summary
An incompressible flow is a flow in which the density of each fluid parcel stays constant as it moves. By the continuity equation, this is the same as the condition that the velocity field has zero divergence. It is an excellent model for liquids and for gases moving much slower than the speed of sound. It is the setting of the incompressible Navier–Stokes equations.
