Definition
Let be a measure space. Let be a non-negative simple function, with and pairwise disjoint . Its integral is with the convention . Let be a measurable function. Its integral is the supremum, in the extended real line,
Remarks
Example: let with the counting measure and for , . The simple functions lie below , and their integrals increase to . Every simple has integral at most , so .
Non-example: the formula does not apply to on , because takes negative values. Such functions need the splitting of the Lebesgue integral.
The value of for a simple function does not depend on the way is written. For one writes . If almost everywhere, then .

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
