Definition
Let be a field of characteristic different from , and let and be vector spaces over . For a sign , write for the other sign. A Jordan pair structure on is a pair of trilinear maps , for , both written . The conditions are, for each and all and :
- ;
- .
In clause 2, the inner product is the one on .
Remarks
Example: the matrices and the matrices over , with on both sides. Clause 1 holds by the form of the formula, and clause 2 follows by expanding both sides into products of five matrices.
Example: a Jordan triple system gives the Jordan pair , with the same triple product on both sides.
Non-example: the same two matrix spaces with fail clause 1, since in general.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
