Quantum mutual information
Summary
The quantum mutual information of a bipartite quantum state measures the total correlation between its two parts. It is built from the von Neumann entropy of the state and of its two marginals. The classical mutual information is built from Shannon entropies in the same way. It counts classical correlations and entanglement together. It appears in channel capacities, in the Holevo bound and in the study of correlations in many-body systems.
