Rankine vortex
Builds on Circulation
Example
Fix a core radius and a circulation . In plane polar coordinates , the Rankine vortex is the planar flow with zero radial velocity and the following azimuthal velocity. The vorticity of a circular flow is . Inside the core, , a rigid rotation. Outside, is constant, so : the flow is irrotational there. The circulation around any circle of radius is , which is the total vorticity in the core. With the pressure given by , the flow is a steady solution of the Euler equations.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
