Sherrington–Kirkpatrick model
Builds on Normal distributionIsing model
Example
Let and let be independent standard Gaussian random variables. The Sherrington–Kirkpatrick model is the random Hamiltonian with partition function for the inverse temperature .
Check: the couplings are independent and symmetric, so each takes both signs with probability . So it is a spin glass in which every spin interacts with every other spin. For each fixed , is a centred Gaussian variable of variance , so the energy grows like , as it should.
Remarks
By Jensen's inequality, . This annealed bound gives the correct free energy only at high temperature. The exact limit of for all is the Parisi formula. The model is the mean-field version of the Edwards–Anderson model, in the same way as the Curie–Weiss model is the mean-field version of the Ising model.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
