K-theory K1 and Whitehead groups Concept
SK1
Summary
For a commutative ring , the group is the kernel of the determinant map . Here is K1 of a ring and is the group of units. It collects the part of that the determinant cannot see, and . It vanishes for fields, for local rings and for Euclidean domains. Bass, Milnor and Serre showed that it also vanishes for rings of integers of number fields. A parallel group , defined with the reduced norm, exists for central simple algebras.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
