Slice category
Builds on CategoryMorphismComma category
Definition
Let be a category and let be an object of . The slice category is defined as follows:
- its objects are the pairs with a morphism of ;
- a morphism is a morphism of with ;
- composition and identities are those of .
Remarks
It is the comma category , where also denotes the functor from the one-morphism category that picks . Dually, the coslice category has as objects the morphisms , and morphisms with . Example: in the category of sets, an object of is a set with a map , that is, a set split into two labelled parts. Write for the identity map of ; then is a morphism from to itself, since . Non-example: let swap and . The identity map is not a morphism from to , since . The object is a terminal object of .

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
