Definition
Let a fluid of density and specific heat flow with characteristic speed past a surface. Let be the heat transfer coefficient of the surface. The Stanton number is the dimensionless number
Remarks
With a length , conductivity , kinematic viscosity and diffusivity , one has . Check: . This uses the Nusselt, Reynolds and Prandtl numbers.
Example: water with joules per cubic metre per kelvin, at metre per second, with in SI units. Then .
Non-example: is not the Stanton number; it is the Nusselt number and does not involve the flow speed.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
