Thermodynamic state
Summary
The thermodynamic state of a system is its macroscopic condition at a given time, given by the values of its state variables. For a system in equilibrium a few variables are enough, such as pressure, volume and amount of substance for a gas. The set of states forms a state space, and a process is a change of state.
