Waldhausen S-construction

Summary

The S-construction turns a Waldhausen category ๐’ž\mathcal{C} into a simplicial category Sโˆ™๐’žS_\bullet \mathcal{C}, whose nn-simplices are chains of nn cofibrations together with chosen quotients. The K-theory space of ๐’ž\mathcal{C} is the loop space of the realization of the weak equivalences wSโˆ™๐’žwS_\bullet \mathcal{C}, and the K-groups are its homotopy groups. For an exact category with the isomorphisms as weak equivalences, it gives the same K-theory as Quillen's Q-construction. Iterating it gives the K-theory spectrum.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
