Galois insertion
Builds on Galois connection
Definition
Let and be partially ordered sets. A Galois insertion of into is a Galois connection with lower adjoint and upper adjoint such that for all .
Remarks
Let be a group, let be the set of subsets of , and let be the set of subgroups of , both ordered by inclusion. Let be the subgroup generated by , and let as a subset. Then if and only if , and , so this is a Galois insertion. The pair of the inclusion and the floor function is a Galois connection but not a Galois insertion. There the lower adjoint is the inclusion, and the inclusion of is . For a Galois connection, these conditions are equivalent: is the identity of ; is surjective; is injective. The dual notion, with for all , is a Galois coinsertion.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
