Stokeslet

Definition
Let be the dynamic viscosity and let be a vector, the point force. For write . The Stokeslet with force at the origin is the pair given by Let be the Dirac delta at the origin. The Stokeslet is the solution, decaying at infinity, of the Stokes equations with a point force in the sense of distributions: The matrix with is the Oseen tensor.
Remarks
Example check, away from the origin: , and . So for .
Non-example: the field alone is not divergence-free, since , so it fails the second equation.
The Stokeslet is the fundamental solution of the Stokes equations, and the flow due to a force density is . In two dimensions the Stokeslet grows like , which is the root of Stokes' paradox.
