Frobenius element

Summary

Let L/KL/K be a Galois extension of number fields, and let ๐”“\mathfrak{P} be a prime of LL that is unramified over KK. Let qq be the size of the residue field of the prime of KK below ๐”“\mathfrak{P}. The Frobenius element of ๐”“\mathfrak{P} is the unique element of the decomposition group that acts on the residue field as the Frobenius automorphism xโ†ฆxqx \mapsto x^q. Its conjugacy class depends only on the prime of KK below ๐”“\mathfrak{P}. Frobenius elements encode how primes split, and they are the input of the Artin map in class field theory and of Chebotarev's density theorem.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
