Meromorphic function
Definition
Let be an open set. A function is meromorphic on if there is a set with these properties.
- has no accumulation point in .
- is holomorphic on .
- Each point of is a pole of .
Remarks
Rational functions , with polynomials and , are meromorphic on . So are , and the Gamma function. If is a domain, and are holomorphic on , and is not identically zero, then is meromorphic on . The meromorphic functions on a domain form a field. The function is not meromorphic on , because its singularity at is essential. The set can be infinite. It is countable, and each compact subset of contains only finitely many points of .
Explanations
L1 human
A meromorphic function is holomorphic except at some isolated points, where it has poles. For example, is holomorphic on except at and , where it goes to infinity.
What this node needs for W2
- edge instance_of in: one example (0 of 1)
- edge not_instance_of in: one non-example that fails one clause (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a node is. They do not measure its truth.
