Manifolds and cell complexes Concept
Orientation of a manifold
Summary
An orientation of an -dimensional manifold is a consistent choice, at every point, of one of the two local directions of rotation, or "handedness". In algebraic topology it is a continuous choice of generator of the local homology group at each point . For smooth manifolds it is the same as a continuous choice of orientation of every tangent space. Orientations are needed for fundamental classes, Poincaré duality with integer coefficients, and integration of differential forms.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
