Trajectory
Definition
Let be an open subset of and let be locally Lipschitz. Let be the flow of the autonomous system . Let , and let be the maximal interval of existence of the solution with . The trajectory, or orbit, of is the set The positive half-trajectory is , and the negative half-trajectory uses .
Remarks
Two trajectories are either equal or disjoint. So the trajectories form a partition of . A trajectory is a single point exactly when is an equilibrium point. It is a closed curve when the solution is periodic and not constant. Some books use the word trajectory for the solution curve itself, and the word orbit for its image.
Explanations
L1 human
The trajectory is the path that the state follows in the phase space. It forgets the time: it records where the state goes, not when.
What this node needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a node is. They do not measure its truth.
