Electric charge
Summary
Electric charge is the property of matter that makes it produce and feel electric and magnetic forces. It is a real number, positive or negative, attached to a particle or spread over a region with some density. Charge is conserved, and like charges repel while opposite charges attract. In the mathematical theory, a charge distribution is the source term of the equations of electrostatics and of Maxwell's equations.
