Hyperelastic material
Summary
A hyperelastic material is an elastic material whose stress is the derivative of a stored energy, its strain energy density function. It is a special kind of Cauchy elastic material in which no energy is lost or created around a closed cycle of deformations. Hyperelastic models describe rubber and many soft tissues at large strains. Their equilibria are critical points of an energy, so the calculus of variations applies.
