Ring isomorphism

Definition

Let RR and SS be rings. A ring isomorphism from RR to SS is a ring homomorphism f ⁣:R→Sf \colon R \to S that is bijective. The rings RR and SS are isomorphic, written R≅SR \cong S, if there is a ring isomorphism from RR to SS.

Remarks

The inverse map of a ring isomorphism is again a ring homomorphism. A ring isomorphism from RR to RR is an automorphism of RR. Complex conjugation is an automorphism of C\mathbb{C}.

Explanations

L1 human

Two isomorphic rings are the same ring with other names for the elements. The isomorphism is the dictionary between the names.

What this node needs for W1
  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a node is. They do not measure its truth.

What this needs

To read this node, read these 4 nodes in this order. The foundations come first, and the list ends with this node.

Each node uses the nodes above it. The colour of the bar on a box shows the evidence level, and the box also gives it as text. The list below has the same nodes.
