Transitive action

Definition

Let a group GG act on a nonempty set XX. The action is transitive when for all x,y∈Xx, y \in X there is a g∈Gg \in G with g⋅x=yg \cdot x = y.

Remarks

The action is transitive if and only if it has exactly one orbit. The action of SnS_n on {1,…,n}\{1, \dots, n\} is transitive. The action of GG on the left cosets of a subgroup HH is transitive. Each transitive action of GG is isomorphic to such an action.

Explanations

L1 human

A transitive action can move any point to any other point. So the set does not split into separate pieces under the action. The rotations of a square act transitively on its four corners.

What this node needs for W1
  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a node is. They do not measure its truth.

What this needs

To read this node, read these 6 nodes in this order. The foundations come first, and the list ends with this node.

Each node uses the nodes above it. The colour of the bar on a box shows the evidence level, and the box also gives it as text. The list below has the same nodes.
