Action on left cosets

Example

Let GG be a group and let HH be a subgroup of GG. Let G/HG/H be the set of the left cosets of HH in GG. The map G×G/H→G/HG \times G/H \to G/H, (g,aH)↦gaH(g, aH) \mapsto gaH, is an action of GG on G/HG/H. The map is well defined, because aH=bHaH = bH implies gaH=gbHgaH = gbH. The action is transitive, because (ba−1)⋅aH=bH(ba^{-1}) \cdot aH = bH. The stabiliser of the coset aHaH is the conjugate subgroup aHa−1aHa^{-1}. The kernel of the associated homomorphism G→Sym⁡(G/H)G \to \operatorname{Sym}(G/H) is the normal core of HH, the intersection of all conjugates of HH. For H={e}H = \{e\}, this is the action by left multiplication.

What this node needs for W1
  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a node is. They do not measure its truth.

What this needs

To read this node, read these 15 nodes in this order. The foundations come first, and the list ends with this node.

Each node uses the nodes above it. The colour of the bar on a box shows the evidence level, and the box also gives it as text. The list below has the same nodes.
