Definition

Let 𝕂\mathbb{K} be ℝ\R or ℂ\C, and let XX be a sequence space over 𝕂\mathbb{K}. A BK-space is such an XX together with a norm ∥⋅∥\norm{\cdot} on XX such that:

  1. (X,∥⋅∥)(X, \norm{\cdot}) is a Banach space.
  2. For each nn, the coordinate map X→𝕂X \to \mathbb{K}, x↦xnx \mapsto x_n, is continuous.

Remarks

Equivalently, a BK-space is an FK-space whose topology is given by a norm.

Example: ℓ∞\ell^\infty with ∥x∥∞=sup⁡n∣xn∣\norm{x}_\infty = \sup_n \abs{x_n} is a BK-space. It is a Banach space, and ∣xn∣≤∥x∥∞\abs{x_n} \le \norm{x}_\infty shows that each coordinate map is continuous. In the same way, the spaces ℓ^p for 1≤p<∞1 \le p < \infty, the space cc of convergent sequences and the space c0c_0 of null sequences are BK-spaces.

Non-example: the space ω\omega of all sequences is an FK-space but not a BK-space. Its FK topology, the topology of coordinatewise convergence, is not given by any norm, because no neighbourhood of 00 in it is bounded.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
