Separable closure
Summary
The separable closure of in an algebraic extension is the set of elements of that are separable over . It is the largest separable subextension of . The separable closure of a field , written , is the separable closure of in an algebraic closure; it is a separably closed field. Its automorphism group over is the absolute Galois group of . For a perfect field the separable closure is the whole algebraic closure.
