Bilinear form
Definition
Let be a field and let be a vector space over . A bilinear form on is a map such that, for all and :
- and .
- and .
Remarks
The dot product on is a bilinear form. For each matrix over , the map is a bilinear form on . The bilinear forms on form a vector space over ; if , it has dimension . More generally, a bilinear map uses two different spaces.
Explanations
L1 human
A bilinear form takes two vectors and gives a number. It is linear in the first vector and also linear in the second vector. The dot product is the main example, but bilinear forms need not be symmetric or positive.
What this node needs for W2
- edge instance_of in: one example (0 of 1)
- edge not_instance_of in: one non-example that fails one clause (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a node is. They do not measure its truth.
