statement proposition

Integral of the exponential function

Statement

For all real numbers aa and bb, ∫abex dx=eb−ea.\int_a^b e^x \, dx = e^b - e^a.

Remarks

The exponential function is its own derivative, so it is its own antiderivative. More generally, ∫abecx dx=(ecb−eca)/c\int_a^b e^{c x} \, dx = (e^{c b} - e^{c a})/c for c≠0c \ne 0. Mathlib states it as integral_exp.

Explanations

L1 human

The exponential function does not change under differentiation. So it also does not change under integration, up to the constant.

What this node needs for W1
  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a node is. They do not measure its truth.
