Lie ideal

Summary

An ideal of a Lie algebra 𝔤\mathfrak g is a linear subspace 𝔞\mathfrak a with [x,a]∈𝔞[x, a] \in \mathfrak a for all x∈𝔤x \in \mathfrak g and a∈𝔞a \in \mathfrak a. Ideals are exactly the kernels of Lie algebra homomorphisms, and they are the subspaces by which one can form quotient Lie algebras. They play the role of normal subgroups in group theory. A Lie algebra with no ideals other than 00 and itself, and not abelian, is called simple.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
