Arc length parametrisation
Definition
Let be a regular curve. Its arc length function is and its length is . Since , the function is a strictly increasing bijection with a inverse . The arc length parametrisation of is the curve , .
Remarks
The curve has the same image and direction as , and for each . So is the unit tangent vector. The length of from to is . For the helix , , so and . The arc length parametrisation is unique up to a shift of the parameter. It simplifies the formulas for curvature.
Explanations
L1 human
Reparametrise the curve so that the parameter is the distance travelled from the start. Then the point moves at constant speed , and only the shape of the curve remains.
What this node needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a node is. They do not measure its truth.
